The Esopus Creek Conservancy and John Burroughs Natural History Society are co-sponsoring a guided nature walk at Falling Waters Preserve in Saugerties on Saturday, October 6, 2012. We will explore this recently opened Scenic Hudson preserve to search for autumn wildlife, including late season butterflies and fall migrant birds. Meet at 8:00 a.m. in the northeast corner of the Saugerties Plaza (near the credit union) on Rt. 9W just south of the Village of Saugerties. Bring binoculars and field guides if you have them, and be prepared for potentially cool autumn weather conditions. Light rain often makes for excellent nature observation, but heavy rain will cancel the walk. Children are welcome and encouraged, but please do not bring pets. Contact the field trip leader, Steve Chorvas ( schorvas@verizon.net )for additional information, directions, or to register for this walk. This joint ECC/JBNHS Environmental Education walk is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is not required, but recommended in the event of unforeseen changes or cancellation.
